The Vexillology Research Center of China (VRCC) was founded in Beijing on 23rd March 2019. On 17th July 2019 in San Antonio, VRCC representing China, successfully won the right to host the 30th ICV in 2023. On 3rd November 2019, Fei Xing, vice president of VRCC, made a public announcement to collect the flag of VRCC at the Fifth National Flag Culture Forum held in the CPPCC auditorium.
The establishment and flag collection of the VRCC is an innovation in the history of the Chinese vexillology. At the same time, it is also a founding ceremony for China’s flag culture to enter the world in the new era and a clarion call for China’s flag culture to contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. After the collection notice was issued, we had received extensive attention and active participation from all circles at home and abroad. Until 20th December 2019, 217 design manuscripts had been received in 48 days. Participants included professional designers, design companies, flag researchers, general staff, college students, middle school students, American scholars, etc.
After preliminary screening, 167 design manuscripts from 80 participants were selected for publicity to the whole society. The participants must ensure the legality, originality, and authenticity of their contribution. If the contribution involved any legal liability and copyright disputes, the participants should bear all the liabilities.
In addition, the public manuscripts were in the chronological order in which they submitted, and the names of applicants will not appear. All sectors of the society are welcomed to comment on the openly-listed design manuscripts by submitting messages. Please indicate the design number when you have comments, such as 01-1. The deadline of publicity is on December 24, 2019. Based on the message comments, experts will conduct a comprehensive evaluation, the selected outstanding designs will be published and rewarded. Furthermore, other manuscripts not selected will get commemorative certificates.
